The CL series embodies the leading standards in live sound in their most advanced, most expressive form.

The CL Series EQ and effects have been vastly expanded. They include an Effect Rack that features VCM analog circuitry modeling technology, as well as a Premium Rack that includes the Rupert Neve Designs Portico 5033 equalizer and Portico 5043 compressor/limiter, developed in close cooperation with Rupert Neve himself. Yamaha began working with Rupert Neve Designs in 2010, developing devices based on Yamaha’s VCM (Virtual Circuitry Modeling) technology. Rupert Neve had this to say about the outstanding quality of the VCM models of the Portico 5033 Equalizer and Portico 5043 Compressor: “This is a very exciting time, because for the first time we have the capability of bringing Rupert Neve sound into the live sound field. This is entirely due to the Yamaha VCM technology. I do believe that it is indistinguishable from the original analog sound.”

Two new rack-mountable I/O units, the Rio3224-D and Rio1608-D, can be used in a variety of combinations and configurations, communicating via a scalable Audinate Dante™ digital audio network. Up to eight I/O rack units can be connected to a CL series console, while multiple CL series consoles can share control of the same I/O rack unit. A new Gain Compensation function adds the ability to combine FOH and monitor control via a single network, for comprehensive digital live sound integration.

Extra flexibility is provided by the CL StageMix application for iPad, providing wireless remote control capability for setting up and operating CL consoles from anywhere on stage or in the audience seating area. The Yamaha Console File Converter is another useful computer application, allowing data to be shared between CL series, PM5D, M7CL, and LS9 consoles, so data from one show doesn’t have to be completely reprogrammed from scratch for the next, even if different consoles are used.

Sennheiser Quality Shotgun. The Sennheiser MKE 600 shotgun microphone has the sturdy build quality we’ve come to expect from Sennheiser. Although this 10" all-metal mic is longer than other comparable shotgun mics, it’s still very well suited for mounting directly on your camera, tripod, or boompole!

High Sensitivity, Low Gains. This MKE 600 provides an interface tube and a supercardioid/lobar polar pattern to deliver powerful and effective sound that can’t usually be obtained with a regular omnidirectional mic. The high sensitivity and low-noise gains of this microphone improves your sound quality without sacrificing tangible audio when using noisy camera preamps.

Battery or Phantom Powered. You have a couple options when it comes to fueling the MKE 600. This mic has a single AA battery slot, which can power the mic for up to 150 hours, but please note that this rental does not include any AA batteries. On the other hand, Phantom power from handheld audio recorders, field recorders, or mixer adapters is also available when using a separately available XLR/XLR cable. We include an XLR/3.5mm TRS coiled cable to add to a camera, but you will need a AA battery to operate the mic this way.

The Sennheiser ME66/K6 is the featured shotgun microphone in this kit. Sennheiser ME66 - Short Shotgun Mic Capsule
The Sennheiser ME66 capsule is a popular short shotgun microphone for use with the K6 or K6P power supplies. The modular design of K6-series microphones provide the freedom to adapt compatible capsules when necessary. The ME66 capsule is sold separately to accommodate those who may already own either of the K6 power supplies.

The capsule features a highly directional, cardioid polar pattern yielding great attenuation at the sides of the microphone, maximizing pick up at the front. The result is a focused pick-up in highly ambient environments. A wide 40-20,000Hz frequency response provides detailed, accurate signal reproduction. Its short size allows camera mounting while remaining free of the frame.

Sennheiser K6 Microphone System Powering Module
The K6 Microphone System Powering Module by Sennheiser is the compatible base for many modular capsules. It features high output levels with low noise, a switchable bass roll-off, and transformerless balanced output.

The K6 can operate on a single AA battery (not included) or Phantom power. Its on/off switch also has a battery test position, so you can be sure you have enough juice. The K6's anodized matte black finish will resist abrasions to maintain a professional appearance, even under rigorous usage.
